What is Choral Festival? The choral festival program sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association is an evaluation procedure of musical performance abilities for individual students, performing groups, and teachers. Participation in the event affords valuable opportunity and motivation for learning during an extended period of time prior to the event as part of regularly scheduled rehearsals.
The goals of Choral Festival are:
1) To raise the standards of musicianship, choral ability, technical knowledge, and literature selection of performers
2) To promote through evaluation, advice, and suggestion, the development of musical knowledge as expressed in performance
3) To offer parents, students and teachers the opportunity of extended listening to the best work of peer groups from other schools.
Judges Ratings
Three judges give seven categorical and one overall score based on the performance of two prepared songs as follows:
1 - Superior
2 - Excellent
3 - Good
4 - Fair
5 - Poor
*After we sing, we will go to a clinic room and receive feedback from a choral clinician (not one of the judges) on our performance.
